8-Day Hiking Tour - Ait Bougmaz Valley Trek
This is a relatively easy but culturally rich experience for those who wants to understand more about local Berber traditions. You will pass through lovely scenery and friendly people, understand the history and modern day issue villagers face everyday.
Day 1: Arrive in Marrakech
You will be met at the Marrakech International airport(RAK) by members of our team. We will then escort you in our minibuses to your hotel. After refreshing, you will have dinner and your experienced trekking guide will be offer a brief for the next day and throughout your stay to ensure you are always prepared.
Day 2: Marrakech to the Ouzoud Cascades
We will start our journey by leaving the busy Marrakech into the calmness and tranquility of the mountains, arriving at Ouzoud in time for lunch next to the cool waterfalls. We then offer an optional afternoon walk to take in the beautiful scenery. Have your camera ready as you will want to capture the natural beauty along the trail and may meet a few wild monkeys on the way. Fall asleep listening to the peaceful sounds of the waterfalls and the birds. Overnight in a local guesthouse.
Day 3: Ouzoud Cascades to Ait Bougmaz Valley
After breakfast, we set off to the Ait Bougmaz Valley through the scenic snow covered Atlas Mountains region. After a long drive, we will arrive to our hotel with time to relax and refresh prior to dinner. Experienced tradtional Berber life here and the surrounding area, the perfect setting for your next few days of discovery walks. You will stay at a family guesthouse for the next few days.
Day 4: Winding Walk to the Sidi Moussa
We start with a scenic mountain tour to the tomb of holy men: Sidi Moussa (Lord Moses) and Sidi Chitta (Lord Chitta), according to local legend. Slowly climbing the winding pathway around the mountain, we will reach Sidi Moussa, now an small local museum, where we will take a short visit to say hello to the 112 years old garden.
Enjoy lunch with a Berber family and then return via a local market where you may wish to purchase authentic gifts or get into the real Moroccan style with a traditional shash to protect your head from the sun. Back to the hotel for relaxation prior to dinner.
Day 5: Walk To the Dinosaur Footprint
After breakfast, we start trekking to the source of the irrigation for the local villages. Great opportunity to photograph the vast variety of birds and wildlife living in their natural habitat along the way. We will stop for an picnic under the shade of the trees. Then walk to the dinosaur park where you will see a 160 million year old dinosaur footprint, founded by Japanese scientists several years ago. We then return to the hotel for afternoon tea. Dinner served at 8pm.
Day 6: Trek to the Gorges of A’Aarouss
Today we drive down the valley then start trekking through wide open fields next to a cool river, then arrive at the Gorges of A’Aarouss situated at the feet of the second highest peak in Morocco. After a picnic lunch, we will walk back through the small local villages with the opportunity to see the locals carrying out their day to day tasks, including community farming, the ladies washing their clothes in the valley stream and children playing.
Day 7: Return to Marrakech
We have breakfast at 8 am this morning then begin the journey to return to Marrakech. On the way, we stop for refreshments in Demnat, a small picturesque town in the middle of the High Atlas mountains. We may even have a walk under the naturally created Imi Nifri Bridge. Here you will see a wide variety of birds in their natural habitat. Listen to the gentle echo of the waterfalls and capture a photo of the ‘map of Atlas’.
Arriving back at the hotel in Marrakech, you will have lots of time to refresh, relax and laze around the pool. This is now your free time to tour the 'red city' visiting the colourful souks and dine in one of the fabulous minaret restaurants, even book yourself in one of the world famous spa in the old city.

Today will be free until we pick you up from your hotel and drop you at the airport three hours prior to your flight.
